You must sign a declaration of commitment with your trainee and the training provider. The contract you create should cover the basic details of their role in the same way you would for any other employee. This information includes their hours of work, their wage rate and their vacation pay and benefits. They should also clearly indicate what their job description is and what is required of them in this role. Also, you may want to cover their training plan and any time off you have agreed for them to learn for their NVQ. The contract must also include an agreed notice period and any complaint or complaint procedure. You can draw up your own apprenticeship contract or download a training contract template. The reason you have a hard time finding advice on drafting a contract for apprentices is that they don`t need to be different from a regular employment contract. The labour law applicable to trainees applies regardless of whether or not it is included in the contract.
